Three days of great curling action came to a close Saturday night at the North Bay Granite Club with the 2002 Provincial Senior Curling champions being decided.

The Idylwylde's Maymar Gemmel's team easily handled Thunder Bay's Sharen Giertuga 9-2 in the final. The Gemmel team with Brenda Johnston, Arlene Stepanick and Barbara Gordon were clearly the class of the field going undefeated throughout the event.

On the senior men's side, Hailibury's Bill Johnston rink won a thriller in an extra end against Thunder Bay's Gary Ball team, 6-5. Johnston showed nerves of steel throughout the game having to draw to the button in the 8th against three and drawing the four foot in the 11th to win it all.
The Johnston team with Don Sauve, Ron McCuaig and Tom McGrory had earlier one a tough semi-final game with a last rock hit and stay against the Idylwylde's Chucker Ross.

A HUGE THANKS to Carmen Webber and her Organizing Committee, the North Bay Granite Club for the great ice and hospitality, to Peg Julian for all her work, including the website updates, and to Dave Bennett, Master of Ceremonies.
